________A BRIEF HISTORY_______
We are a small select kennel established in l978. My wife, Sue and I enjoy great success in the U.K. and many other parts of the
world, where the Courtmasters have been exported. We specialise in
particolours, particularly the blues, the chocolate gene also runs in
the line, as does black and white.
We are both International Championship Show Judges and have been
invited to many countries to judge the breed where we have made many
friends.
In 1979 two foundation bitches were purchased these were the
foundation of our kennel today and all stock is line bred back to these.
From Wild Oats we bred our first litter and retained a bitch
Courtmaster Enchantress who won a R.CC our first major success. Next we
mated Wild Oats to Sh. Ch. Celeine Echelon from this mating we retained a dog and a
bitch Courtmaster Bon Ton & Sh Ch.Courtmaster Je Suis. Bon Ton later
went to
France where he won B.I.S. at the St Ettiene all breed Ch. show.
While in England Je Suis became our first Show Champion 5ccs and 5 rccs.
We only bred once from her and kept a bitch Courtmaster Santa Lucia
who
was to be the dam of our next champion Sh Ch Courtmaster Abracadabra,
whose great achievement
was to be B.O.B. at Crufts in 1987. Later he
went to India with H.R.H. Prince Husian and gained his Indian title and
up until he retired was unbeaten in India
being B.O.B. & B.I.S. at every all breed championship show attended.
We later sent another dog , Indian Ch Courtmaster Ali Bongo, to
Mr Malhotra who became the reserve Top Dog All Breeds in India.
From Abracadabra we kept a daughter Courtmaster Jezebel the dam of Sh.Ch
Courtmaster Mr
Magic
10 CC's 9 B.I.S & 10 R.CC,s including R.CC at Crufts in 1991. Mr Magic
went to France where he proved a valuable stud dog stamping his type and
quality on his progeny At this time Breeders from Russia were able to
use him and he had a valuable influence on the breed there which can
still be seen today. We had the pleasure of judging in
Moscow and meeting many of the breeders whose current stock were
descended from him. His sister Courtmaster Angel Dust, another
top winner was the dam of Indian Ch. Courtmaster Ali Bongo.
We then campaigned Courtmaster Witchdoctor (1 CC 1 RCC), he was
exported to Spain where he became Spanish & Portuguese Champion
and has been a major influence on parti-coloured breeding there.
After Witchdoctor came the next winner, Courtmaster Blue Icon 1 R.CC
and his daughter Courtmaster Box of Tricks. Blue Icon subsequently went to
Spain and is behind many of todays winners there.
In 1999 we campaigned Sh Ch Courtmaster Wardance, the son
of Blue Icon who was best minor puppy at the Cocker Spaniel Club championship
show. He was also RDCC at both the Cocker Club and Crufts 2001, winner
of the Open dog at Crufts 2002,with 12 English Champions and again RDCC
at the Cocker Club Centenary Show in 2002 with a record entry of 532
cockers. He is stamping type and quality
and his progeny are now in the ring winning well. He is proving a great
sire for us and we are now campaigning his daughter Sh. Ch. Courtmaster
Catch A Dream whose latest win has been Best of Breed
and Group 3 South Wales Kennel Association Ch.Sh. His half brother,
Canadian & USA Ch. Courtmaster Warpaint was exported to Virginia Lyne in
Canada and soon gained his title for her. He is at present in the USA
with Virginia being campaigned with his champion daughter.
Today we are now campaigning Courtmaster White Wizard with 2 RCCs to
his credit and his young daughter Courtmaster Lets Tango, her
latest win being Best Puppy in Breed at South Wales Ch.Sh at just
9 months old.
Other than these home based Champions we have also exported to many
parts of the world where
our dogs have enjoyed great success including :-
2
Finnish Champions
1 Irish Champion
3 Indian Champions
1 Maltese Champion
1 Brazilian Champion
1 Argentinean Champion
4 Spanish Champions
1 Gibraltar Champion
1. Portuguese Champion
1. Canadian Champion
2. Hungarian Champions
1. Latvian Champion
Plus top winners in Sweden, Austria, and in France and Spain our dogs
have won the Spaniel Speciality shows.
All this has been accomplished by us whilst never keeping
more than seven adult dogs, and carefully line breeding.
We have also had the pleasure of judging many fine Cockers throughout
the world, and have made many lasting friends.
